How would democracy work in a past where majority of people could not read and write?
It didnt work well.
The NEW LITERACY is programming and EVERYONE needs to learn it sooner or later.
This is why i started a project for kids to learn programming but am open to teach adults too

If you don't know how to program, you can still "sign up" on github and press "form buttons", learn "MARKDOWN" and discuss documents.
Yes, it takes some discipline, but its not hard at all compared to programming.
So people can just learn how to work on documents...
... if we really want a different society, everyone has to change, which means actually DOING or LIVING differently, which means learning how to be disciplined enought to use structured discussion tools like on the best social network of them all => GITHUB :-)
If people dont start sophisticated colaboration, it's not gonna work out well.
Currently we are in some kind of "early bird" phase, were people, mostly programmers (who learned the new literacy already), prototype the methods of collaboration for the future.
Once "Best Practices" evolve, new Tools can be written, that refine the ways in which GITHUB works right now to make it even simpler to use for people who are not literate yet.
The "Next Generation Github" will also be decentralised and not run on some company servers, but for now, it's good enough to prototype the methods of collaboration :-)

I find github very interesting, and I dream the moment when we can integrate vilfredo as part of github, so that for specific questions a vilfredo question is opened. What I wonder is: how democratic is a system where the only person that can participate in the discussion really (that is with direct independent power) are the programmers who can fork a program?
I don't have an answer, but I wonder...On 7 May 2015 at 01:34, Alexander Praetorius <citizen AT serapath.de> wrote:_______________________________________________One example of a current project of mine.
We are "brainstorming" about our "core values and vision" of the "organisation" we are trying to found. I fleshed out the first draft and a contributor is doing an iteration and now we discuss if we should accept the "proposed changes" to the original document or not.
See:
https://github.com/ninabreznik/organisation/commit/e6ebf720676920f5f503f11c309b1fd6a5447ef2?diff=splitAll the discussions can be very fine grained and github documents the whole history of every project. A project is some kind of "collection of documents" :-)
I strongly recommend everyone again to join github and try to participate or create projects there and find out for yourself how all this magic works. I think it can inspire future discussions about metagovernment.--DISCLAIMER:
