I agree that this would be a bad idea. But then, you have not shown
any substantial way I have misunderstood your proposed system.

Certainly my conceptions of human behavior are different from most
peoples', including most other psychologists. But then, over the last
6 months I've read pretty much the entire body of research on
authoritarianism and large quantities of the research on evolutionary
psychology and so I'm beginning to think I understand how the two can
be integrated to explain the dysfunctional world we live in. Whether
that really gives me any idea of how to *fix* it remains to be seen,
but I think I've got a pretty good handle on what won't work...

So, that would be suppression of dissent, then? How about instead you
tell me how a system that requires representatives and/or juries
and/or moderators is not susceptible to the same sorts of corruption
we see every day in our existing systems?

I certainly don't relish the idea of disparaging other people's work.
I *want* you to succeed! But I also *really* don't want you to fail
in such a way that it makes it even harder to get any future
direct-democracy proposal started. You may not appreciate my
kibitzing, but I'm a stakeholder here too and I'm going to look out
for the interests of this entire field and if I see someone doing
something that is risky or unwise I will always feel obligated to
point that out.

Scott
