Dear Antonio,

thank you for your multiple emails on the subject of the PPEU, the past experiences you have had, your opinions on the politics of the Pirate Parties of Europe and so forth. It seems you may have misunderstood the purpose and intent of both these lists and the work of PPEU, so for the sake of closing this I will reply to you here and I will encourage you to send me emails directly at oktavia AT piratar.is for further opinion sharing on these particular matters.

Firstly Antonio, thank you for your comments. However let me emphasise: I am the Chairperson of the PPEU and I repeat with conviction that no one will be told to shut up, however let me clarify that no will be allowed to troll, or disrespect either - we are working on codes of conduct, on restoring and strengthening our movements. Within that frame, I am a firm believer in settling the past and looking forward.

In terms of the issues you raise:
Let me clarify for you: as the Chair I have full access to all activities of the PPEU mailing lists. When you write and word things like only the “right” person has access, you are alienating and that doesn't belong within the principles that we stand for.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on previous mailing lists - however Im uncertain of why you find that these musings belong on these lists? Please be mindful that our mailing lists contain a lot of people and in general think before sending unnecessarily many emails to them. I am always available for a chat and/or email or call and so are other members of the board.

Further to your points in the mails you have sent: Indicating that the communications of the PPEU are monitored by the usual mafia is an allegation I take deeply and seriously. I understand you may have said this in jest, however that doesn't easily transfer over the internet.

Let me also clarify that Iceland is not in the European Union, nor has it a possibility to run for the European Parliament Elections in 2019. Further to your other points: I completely disagree with you. Perhaps that is a conversation over a coffee one day.

I am glad you read the notes, I am sadden in your lack of confidence in the board and I was sorry to read in your first email that you are an ex- Spanish Pirate Party Boardmember , however let me extend to you that if you wish to no longer be on this list, I am an admin and can take you off them immediately. Please reply to oktavia AT piratar.is.

Antonio, I see you are going through a disbelief of the actual worth or ability of the PPEU to have sustenance and make progress. As the Chair I will promise you to do my utter best to prove that wrong and I am proud that we as an European association of several movements continue to grow and learn from the mistakes of the past.

Have a good weekend and I hope to see you in my (personal) inbox soon!

To the rest of you - the number of emails on the lists will not be as frequent or detailed going forward with that said - I hope you enjoyed your popcorn.

All the bests and have a great weekend everybody!

Oktavia,

It is naieve to believe what you say about PPEU not telling anybody to shut up. You won't even get to know somebody has been silenced on the mailing lists... unless you got an answer straightaway in your own inbox... and did NOT see it show up on the mailing lists ;(.

What an annoyance it was on the old PPI mailing list, where the Swedes in charge refused to censor anybody. Since then, pirates have learnt a lot ;). Now everything is in charge of the "right" people!

Revise las condiciones de uso de la lista pp-eu.coordinators:

Now the PPEU can have the right kind of fun, all it's communications monitored by the usual mafia ;))).

Good luck.

Dear Jaromil and Carlo,

with the risk of annoyance I will just jump right in on this subject.

Firstly, the PPEU will tell no one to shut up - it may however ask people to direct the conversation to another platform or tell someone speaking without respect to a member on this list that they cannot participate anymore. We are informally reaching a good code of conduct for our conversations and communication, partly by increased participation. Perhaps writing those down will be a good idea (more on that later and in another thread).

In regards to your question of DiEM25 or not - there needs to be more information for informed choices to be made and we need to have that conversation.

I suggest to start a separate thread on this topic next week when we have more information. In the meantime I strongly encourage the following:

1) read the PPEU board meeting notes! they are here:
and so on - we have had 5 so far.
2) Listen in on the Board meetings! The next board meeting is announced at the bottom of the pads. The next one is:  11.04.2018, 19:00 hrs UTC / 20:00 hrs CET
3) get involved on the new thread once we set it up and in the conversation that starts there!

Carlo - I will ping you separately with a question about the inner power circles of DiEM25

Bests and yyyaarrr!!!!!!

So the questions remain -- should we join DiEM25 or not?

Yes I believe so

Is it an actual movement or just a Varoufakis fan club?

to me its obvious its a top-down show (or avantgarde as they may
better like to be called) born out of Varoufakis fan club. It is also
heavily identitarian, a problem many Pirate Parties themselves suffer
from. Said that, awareness of problems is the first step to solve them
;^)
