Hi Leute,
In den USA scheint sich auch langsam etwas zu bewegen. Leider betrifft es nur Cannabis. Aber wäre wenigstens ein Anfang ...
LG, Christine

Three states, Colorado, Washington and Idaho, will vote on marijuana legalization initiatives in the US on November 6, and passage of any or all of these initiatives could be game-changers. The three initiatives have very significant differences and present three rather different models of a regulated marketplace. The Oregon Cannabis Tax Act (Measure 80), with no limit on possession for personal use or home cultivation, is generally considered the most lenient, while the Washington Initiative 502, which prohibits home cultivation, is considered too restrictive by some marijuana activists. Nonetheless, Washington Initiative 502 has received wide support statewide, including from the Seattle Times and the State Democratic Party, and is polling as high as 57 to 34 in the most recent polls. The well-funded Colorado Amendment 64 is polling slightly lower barely over 50%, but with a 9 points lead, while Oregon Cannabis Tax Act (Measure 80) face an uphill battle at 37 to 41 and 22% undecided.
With Uruguay moving towards marijuana legalization under state control, and with Guatemala, Mexico and Colombia asking for a revision of the international drug treaties, passage of any of the marijuana initiatives in the US would be a real game-changer and would build up the pressure on the US government. The Latin American countries are saying loud and clear: If consuming countries (hint: the US) cannot substantially reduce the demand for illegal drugs, then we need to look for alternatives, including legalization.
Therefore, I encourage you to support in any way possible each of these three initiatives. You can do so in various ways:
· If you live in Colorado, Washington or Oregon, just vote. If you don’t, encourage people there to vote.
· Donate to the campaign:
o Colorado Amendment 64
o Oregon Cannabis Tax Act (Measure 80)
o Washington Initiative 502
