im folgenden ein Schreiben der chilenischen Piraten:

Dear pirates. A week ago the Chilean President pointed out to the country and to the world that there was a war in the country; a war that existed only in his imagination. During the week the number of deaths continued to increase, as did the number of complaints of human rights violations. In response to the government's murderous repression, the largest demonstration in Chile's history was called for Friday, October 25. On Thursday night, the 24th, the government made new announcements, offering bills to resolve the demands of the population; however, it did not consider the end of the state of emergency, nor deep changes in the pension or health system; much less any sign towards a change of constitution (written in dictatorship). The presidential announcements failed to calm citizen unrest, which multiplied the demand for the resignation of the President. More than 1,200,000 people (approximately 20% of the city's inhabitants) attended the march on the 25th in the city of Santiago. Massive marches were held throughout the country. And yes, it was the largest demonstration in Chile's history. You've probably seen images. Although, due to the large number of people present, there was no generalized repression, dozens of people were reported injured by the police force, in different places. After the march, the government changed the attitude of the speech, going from a declaration of war to words of unity and joy. This attitude was replicated by government ministers and parliamentarians, calling for the normalization of the country. However, these words did not mean the cancellation of the state of emergency or the withdrawal of the military from the streets. In fact, the government approved that complaints of human rights violations committed by state agents should not be investigated. On the other hand, citizen assemblies have multiplied in many neighborhoods of the country. Where neighbors and neighbors are talking about the need for change required by the system that governs us, which should lead to a change of constitution, which is demanding a constituent assembly process. A group of parliamentarians is preparing the presentation of a constitutional accusation against President Sebastián Piñera, at the same time as conversations are taking place between the opposition parties in order to gain support for the presentation of the accusation. Until now, the parties continue to evaluate support for this measure, as there are not enough votes in parliament for this indictment to be won. Nevertheless, the citizen demand continues to demand the dismissal of the President. The city is still mobilized and the call for new demonstrations has already been made for this week, when the UN commission will arrive to investigate the complaints of human rights violations for 4 weeks. We continue to ask for the support of the pirates to urge their governments to demand an explanation from the Chilean government for the human rights violations denounced during these days. We request that, following the example of French parliamentarians, they demand that their governments cancel their participation in the COP25 meetings and the APEC Forum. A big hug to all of you. Strength and Hope.

hasta soon
